The 5S approach is one of the strategies that can assist organizations, corporations, and educational institutions boost production and working efficiency. The Training Department - Thu Dau Mot University has used and implemented this strategy to create a clean and tidy working environment in which personnel can handle professional work and systematic archival records. This article presents the theoretical basis of the 5S method, the application process, and the results of implementing this method in the management of training at Thu Dau Mot University. Based on the approach to 5S principles, implementation steps according to the PDCD quality cycle, and practical implementation at the Training Department. The outcomes benefited the department by increasing work management efficiency without spending too much money. If 5S is adopted and reproduced in all functional departments and specialized units, it will generate a high-quality cultural environment that will strengthen the university's market position.
In the accelerating pace of globalization and internationalization of trade, professionals from a wide range of organizations believed that English as an international language, which is a way of thinking, researching and practicing, was used in almost all areas of life, study, and work. That’s why the study's foremost objectives were to comprehend reading learning strategies used by English-majored students at Thu Dau Mot University. A quantitative method was used to conduct the research with a questionnaire divided into four parts. The subjects of this study are 100 English majors from the Faculty of Foreign Languages at Thu Dau Mot University. According to the results, the majority of students agree with the difficulties faced when learning English reading. Likewise, students also subscribe that they also use some reading learning strategies such as extensive reading strategy, the phonics strategy, the whole language strategy, reading comprehension strategy and vocabulary building strategy. Moreover, some solutions, such as the function of the word in the sentence, the main gist, guessing the unfamiliar word and reading aloud are recommended to them to read more effectively and improve their reading ability. An academic advisor is a person who orients, advises, and monitors the learning and training activities of students in academic credit system activities to help students achieve their training goals in academic credit system. From that, it can be understood that academic advising activities are the work of consultants and supports for students. This article presents the role of the academic advising team at the university, thereby conducting a survey, analyzing and evaluating the current state of Thu Dau Mot University managers and lecturers’ perceptions of the importance of academic advisors to contribute to improving the training quality under the academic credit system.
Thu Dau Mot University is one of the main public education institutions in the South-Eastern region of Vietnam. The vision of the university is to adopt innovative teaching methodologies to improve education quality and attract more students. Thu Dau Mot University envisions becoming a smart university as one of its long-term strategies in order to be aligned with the smart city orientation of Binh Duong province. The paper evaluates the potential of buiding Thu Dau Mot university model by SWOT analysis. It’s results will serve as a reference for Thu Dau Mot university’s leaders to identifying where are the strengths, the weakenesses, the opportunities and the threats in their process of smart university development. Finally, the paper has provided recommendations to Thu Dau Mot university for becoming a smart university.
The study is aimed at examining the impacts of the reading environment on ELF learners’ reading comprehension. To achieve this objective, the study was conducted at Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU) with the participation of 129 English majors and 19 teachers of English, who returned questionnaires and were interviewed on a voluntary basis. The findings show that EFL learners’ reading comprehension is significantly influenced by the reading environment. If they read in the unorganized or uncontrolled environments where the atmosphere is noisy or they find it comfortable, e.g., at home, in bed room, or on public transports, they will have problems about comprehension. Therefore, the role of teachers is to let EFL learners read in the organized or controlled environments. In addition, more quiet reading spaces should be built for EFL learners because they can have high comprehension when reading in such places. Key words: reading comprehension; reading environment.
Symbolic images stand for more than simply what appears before the eyes. They represent a deeper meaning behind the image – something. The symbolic images in public communications, and techniques of their application as an instrument of forming desired ideological models within social consciousness, as well as consider principles of social psychology that enable successful application of communication technologies to a target audience by appealing to their image thinking. Applied methods of the research are: sociocultural, historical, and content analysis, this article focuses on analyzing the significance of symbol image in public communication strategies and its impacts on brand building, trust establishment, and fostering a positive interactive environment with the public. Based on lessons drawn from practical public communication activities of Thu Dau Mot University, the article proposes additional measures to enhance the effectiveness of the unit's communication and their potential application to specific cases, contributing to the development of the field of public communication.
FACTORS AFFECTING ENGLISH SCORES AT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL EXAM OF SOPHOMORES AT THU DAU MOT UNIVERSITY: EMPIRICAL EVIDENCES FROM GLS METHOD
This paper aims to identify the English-learning motivation of Thu Dau Mot University’s students. Based on the questionnaire, the data for analysis were collected from more than 100 students of different majors studying non-majored English at Thu Dau Mot University’s Foreign Language Center. The findings show that students have relatively positive learning motivation. In the relationship between learning achievement and motivation, the motive that comes from the students’ desire to get a better job occupies 58.4% of all the students surveyed because they believe it is essential and decisive to ensure their future income (applying for a job to earn money), and motivation to integrate into modern world life (because English is a global language: 40.4%) are the factors affecting students’ achievement.
In this study, we examine students at Thu Dau Mot University specializing in Food Technology’s speaking and listening skills in English. We conducted a survey on 59 students majoring in Food Technology using the questionnaire approach. Students struggle to develop macro-English abilities like speaking and listening, as seen by their responses. mastering English grammar, vocabulary, and other micro-skills might be challenging. The findings indicate that significant obstacles to learning listening and speaking skills include a lousy sound system, a lack of a communicative context, a limited vocabulary, a lack of cultural understanding, and a fear of making mistakes in communication. The findings also demonstrate that students’ limited exposure to English and weak phonological skills are to blame for their difficulty acquiring pronunciation. Many words are long and complicated, making learning and recalling word parts like verbs, nouns, and adjectives challenging. Many words are also difficult to pronounce. Learning the grammar of verbs and articles is challenging for students. When the challenges are solved, this research aims to effective foreign language learning.
Plagiarism is a very common problem in many universities. A lot of students plagiarize unconsciously because they don't understand the concept. The study will clarify the concept of plagiarism, as well as ways for universities to help their students avoid the habit of plagiarism. The aim of this study is to explore Thu Dau Mot University Students Knowledge about the seriousness of Plagiarism; Find out the most common types of plagiarism committed by students; Analyzing and finding out the possible common reason a student unintentionally commits plagiarism. In terms of purposes of the study, to answer the research question and based on the background of previous studies, in this study, one hundred students in different majors - Freshman students to senior students are taken as samples. The results of this study showed that the majority of students are aware of plagiarism and the consequences of plagiarizing, plagiarism is fairly common on campus and students are aware of it. The study indicates that plagiarism does exist at Thu Dau Mot University and students are willing to take the risk of plagiarizing, regardless of knowing that it is unacceptable. It also confirms that plagiarism is common amongst students across all departments at Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.
The aim of the study is to investigate the errors in writing of non- English major students at Thu Dau Mot University. This study focused on paragraphs because the researcher has found that diverse errors in students’ paragraphs and wants to improve their writing skill. Seventy-four English paragraphs were written by 74 non-English major students coming from different academic majors at Thu Dau Mot University. All of the errors in the paragraphs were identified, synthesized and classified into various categorizations. The findings of the study show that the most frequently committed errors were tense, spellings, singular/plural form, prepositions, word order, fragment. On the basis of these results, many recommendations and pedagogical implications were suggested to help EFL lecturers with some teaching strategies that will reduce problems regarding writing English paragraphs among English learners.
In recent years, society has been evolving rapidly, and contemporary education is being adapted to satisfy people's requirements in accordance with 4.0 trends and the industrial revolution.This gives birth to the definition of Smart University, the study of which seeks to identify the required components for constructing a smart learning environment. The research group analysed nationally and internationally advanced models, proposing a smart university model for Thu Dau Mot University (T-SMARTHS) with smart levels matching the phases established and developed at Thu Dau Mot University.
Vegetables are the major source of dietary nitrate, with wide variations in nitrate content. The presence of nitrate in vegetables is often associated with harmful effects on human health. The study investigated nitrate of vegetables in Phu My ward, Hiep An ward, Tuong Binh Hiep ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province in 2020 by UV-VIS for determining of nitrat concentration, measurement wavelength of 410 nm. The vegetable samples were collected in the fields according to method of TCVN 9016:2011 and the nitrate contents were determinated according to method of TCVN 8742:2011 (Vietnam Ministry of Sciences and Technology, 2011). The results showed that there were 3 fresh spinach samples, 3 bok choy samples, contained the nitrate contents exceeded the regulations according to the regulations of nitrate contents in vegetables in the decisions of world health organization site (WHO). These results warn the farmers and policy administers of Thu Dau Mot city to give the solutions of nitrate-content controling in vegetables producing in Binh Duong.
The electricity obtained from the photovoltaic (PV) system highly depends on various factors such as geographical location, solar radiation, weather conditions and orientation of solar panels. The electricity produced by the solar PV system can be assessed by using simulations. This paper presents a technical feasibility assessment of a 10 kWp rooftop solar PV system for a household in Thu Dau Mot City, Vietnam. The study presents the amount of electricity produced, the performance of the PV system and the system potential to reduce CO2 emissions into the environment. The designing and evaluating of the system performance is done by PV*SOL, PVsyst and PVGIS software. The project provides useful information for the pre-feasibility assessment phase of a residential solar PV project in Vietnam.
International scientific publication is one of the activities that help improve the quality of scientific research and develop the brand name of the university. This paper presents some key features of Thu Dau Mot university’s international scientific publications through statistics from 2015 to 202 which based on criteria: the number of publications in international journals (included ISI, Scopus and non-ISI, Scopus), field of science, gender and research collaboration. In addition, this paper will discuss some initial identifications: (1) the number of international scientific publications has grown rapidly and steadily over the years; (2) the number of international scientific publications is concentrated in the natural science, engineering and technology; (3) social science and education’s contribution in international scientific publications has limited;(4) there is a significant difference in the number of international scientific publications between male and female; (5) Research collaboration has an important role in the international scientific publications of Thu Dau Mot university.
Research and assessment of sludge management in Thu Dau Mot wastewater treatment enterprise. The composition of the sludge depends on the composition of the wastewater, the wastewater treatment process and the sludge treatment process. The most common non-toxic organic compounds include materials of plant and animal origin such as proteins, amino acids, sugars, fats ... compounds containing N, P... Toxic organic compounds include compounds of PHA (Poly-nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons), alkyl phenols, polychlorinated biphenyls (PSBs) organochlorine pesticides, phenols, chloro-benzenes ... Heavy metals such as: Zn, Pb, Cu, Cd, Ni, Cr, Hg, As… (in the range from 1ppm to 100ppm). Some of these compounds can be toxic to humans and animals. Therefore, it is necessary to control the concentration of heavy metals in the sludge before disposal or reuse. Harmful microorganisms such as pathogenic bacteria, viruses and protozoa together with parasitic helminths can increase the potential harm to human, animal and plant health. Inorganic compounds such as silicates, aluminates, calcium and magnesium compounds.
Electric vehicles (EVs) making a significant contribution to the reduction of fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are expected to thrive in Vietnam in the upcoming years/in the near future. However, such vehicles’ energy demand could become a burden on the transmission networks, causing overloads to the electric grid of the nation. Hence, to solve this problem, a solar PV system can be utilized to fulfill the electricity needs in an EV charging station. This article presents the design, simulation and economic analysis of a grid-connected solar power system for an electric charging station at Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU). The photovoltaic (PV) power system is designed to supply energy to the charging station and office building. The study estimates the generated electricity, the efficiency of the PV power system and the ability to reduce CO2 emissions. This paper can be a recommended input for stakeholders to consider using this energy source for charging vehicles.
The current status assessment research of water use and quality of supplied domestic water in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province, as well as the clean water use situation of the local people. Sampling and assessment of the quality of supplied water at Thu Dau Mot Water supply enterprise. The water treatment process here is strictly conducted to ensure stability, constant pressure, inlet and outlet water flow. The analysis results of physical and chemical parameters of water quality at Thu Dau Mot Water supply enterprise show parameters within the allowable limits of water standards for domestic use QCVN 02: 2009/BYT and domestic water QCVN 01: 2009/BYT. However, during the water treatment process in the rainy season, it is time consuming and costly for the use of many chemicals in the treatment process, as high turbidity and high color temperature, low TDS, low pH, low chloride, high SS, Fe and Mn content changes in the wet season higher than in the dry season. After sampling for analysis and treatment, the output water meets the clean water standard to meet the needs of the people in Thu Dau Mot City and surrounding areas. Industrial Revolution 4.0 has become an indispensable trend in the development process of Vietnam and is increasingly applied in university education. The essence of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is the application of technology, data science and the use of artificial intelligence for production and human life. In this impact, modern education, especially higher education, is the field most affected. Online teaching, with tools to support the teaching of the digital age, has been changing dramatically in the teaching and learning situation in universities, helping to modernize education and integrate with the world, but there are many issues that teachers and managers must consider to change teaching methods and training strategies, in order to deliver the best results. Starting from the actual situation, we propose specific and comprehensive measures to improve the teaching efficiency of Thu Dau Mot University and, to meet the needs of Vietnamese society and the development of Industrial Revolution 4.0.
In the trend of globalization and international integration of our country today, learning foreign languages in general and English in particular are aimed at achieving communication purposes. Therefore, learning the linguistic knowledge including vocabulary is also for the purpose of developing learners' communication skills. The non-majored English training for students at the Foreign Language Center - Thu Dau Mot University is directed to the effectiveness of communication, the most prominent is the method of learning vocabulary through the application of Morphology and Morpheme; At the same time, the method of learning meanings of words in the context and application of newly-learned words in the practice of communication skills will be also focused.
This research aims to describe English language errors in the scientific papers. The research data consists of 104 scientific articles that authors sent to Journal of Thu Dau Mot University. The quantitative method was applied in the form of frequency charts for each category of surface strategy taxonomy and comparative analysis. Based on the analysis theory of grammatical errors, all of the errors in these articles were identified and classified into different categorizations. The findings of the study showed that the authors’ writings were committed three main error groups: Lexical errors are the highest with 281 (49%); the number of Syntactic errors are ranked the second with 222 (39%); Morphological errors are the lowest with 69 (12%). On the basis of these results it is figured out that the authors still have difficulties in writing a research papers in English because they are not English major. Moreover the grammar of English is known as their foreign language. Another reason that the writer made errors is uninterested in organization of their papers. From the study findings above, the researcher suggests some implications to help authors improve their academic writing and meet English international standard.
Bài viết này tìm hiểu mối quan hệ giữa đình với người cúng đình nhằm giải thích sự tồn sinh của đình trong bối cảnh đô thị hóa hiện nay. Sử dụng cách tiếp cận Nhân học và nguồn tư liệu điền dã tại một số ngôi đình ở thành phố Thủ Dầu Một, thị xã Thuận An, thị xã Dĩ An và thị xã Tân Uyên, bài viết phát hiện và phân tích sự biến đổi chức năng tương tế của đình ở các điểm dân cư có mức độ đô thị hóa khác nhau. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy mối quan hệ giữa đình với người cúng đình thông qua lễ bái quan hiện vẫn còn duy trì đầy đủ, đảm bảo chức năng tương tế tại các đình được khảo sát. Chức năng tương tế của đình nếu được duy trì sẽ góp phần cố kết cộng đồng người cúng đình và dự báo khả năng tồn sinh của đình trong bối cảnh đô thị hóa.
Đề xướng CDIO hay sáng kiến CDIO (Conceive Design Implement Operate) là một dự án quốc tế lớn nhằm cải cách chương trình đào tạo và phương pháp giảng dạy của các trường kỹ thuật bậc đại học. Còn AUN-QA (ASEAN Uni versity Network – Quality Assurance) là bộ tiêu chuẩn với các quy tắc chất lượng khắt khe, có tiêu chí cụ thể, rõ ràng, tập trung đánh giá những điều kiện để đảm bảo chất lượng đào tạo của toàn bộ chương trình đào tạo của các trường đại học Đông Nam Á. Từ năm 2013 cho tới nay, trường Đại học Thủ Dầu Một đã ứng dụng không ngừng những tiêu chuẩn và tiêu chí của cả CDIO và AUN vào việc xây dựng chương trình đào tạo, đổi mới phương pháp dạy học và kiểm định chất lượng đào tạo để đáp ứng những tiêu chuẩn khắt khe của những sản phẩm đầu ra, đáp ứng yêu cầu xã hội và hội nhập khu vực, tiến tới hội nhập quốc tế về giáo dục và đào tạo. Ngành Quốc tế học tuy mới được thành lập ở trường Đại học Thủ Dầu Một từ 2019, nhưng cũng đã áp dụng rất triệt để bộ tiêu chuẩn CDIO và AUN từ khâu lập đề án mở ngành cho tới xây dựng đề cương giảng dạy, tuyển sinh đầu vào và đổi mới phương pháp dạy – học. Bài tham luận của chúng tôi sẽ tập trung vào sự kết hợp xây dựng chương trình đào tạo và đổi mới phương pháp giảng dạy theo những bộ tiêu chuẩn CDIO và AUN mà chúng tôi đã và đang áp dụng triển khai có hiệu quả ở ngành Quốc tế học.
Đào tạo nhân lực đáp ứng yêu cầu của xã hội là mục tiêu chung của các cơ sở giáo dục. Trường ĐH Thủ Dầu Một triển khai áp dụng đề xướng CDIO để xác định chuẩn đầu ra (CĐR) cho các ngành đào tạo, trong đó chú trọng năng lực về thực hành nghề nghiệp cho sinh viên (SV) là CĐR quan trọng. Có thể nói, tiếp cận CDIO là một giải pháp nâng cao chất lượng đào tạo, góp phần rút ngắn khoảng cách giữa giảng dạy và thực tiễn. Tuy nhiên, nó đã đặt ra cho cả người dạy và người học những thách thức lớn. Bài viết trình bày thực trạng về năng lực nghề của SV nhóm ngành công nghệ thông tin (CNTT) và nêu lên một số giải pháp đã thực hiện tại Viện Kỹ thuật Công nghệ nhằm nâng cao năng lực thực hành nghề nghiệp cho SV đáp ứng yêu cầu của xã hội.
